Digging through some old news clippings, I came across this article from February 29, 2016, in the Liberian newspaper, Hot Pepper. The full text of the article follows.
Clergyman, Tony Weedor, Advance Native Mission (ANM), has cautioned members of the Liberian Senate to serve their people the best way, which will impact other lives. The clergyman said Liberia, a country which suffers as a result of the pro-longed civil crisis, needs visionary leaders in order to transform the country; writes Seya Messah.
Delivering an inspiring Gospel message at the beginning of the Senate’s regular session on Thursday, February 25, 2016, the ANM Africa Desk Director urged members of the Senate to empower others who will lead the country when their time expires. Director Weedor also admonished them to put the country’s interest above personal interest, as leaders of the country. He said when the foundation is broken, it needs God’s wisdom to have it rebuilt. He said the plenary of the Senate has great people with many talents, which could be used to transform the country.
Clergyman Weedor told reporters after delivering his message to the Senate’s plenary that his delegation conducted a prayer session for members of the Legislature at the joint chamber of the Capitol building, to invoke God’s blessing upon the lawmakers.
According to the ANM Director, the five-man delegation also donated several Holy Bibles, with specific Scriptures for individual senators which show them the way to know God. The delegation was brought into Liberia through the instrumentality of Chaplain General of the Liberian Senate, Rev. Michael Holder. Rev. Holder is on record for bringing international guests into Liberia, some of which have invested into the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Liberian Senate, Senator Henry Yallah, Bong County, expressed thanks and appreciation to the delegation, especially for the “Teach Yourself Holy Bible” given them. He said the plenary of the Liberian Senate will always remain graceful, and vowed to read and practice what is in the Bible.
